Why does Ford treat US customers this way?

@Camila
Basically, yeah, everything sucks now.

@Camila
Modern automatics aren’t too bad, actually. I used to think I hated them, but the new 10-speed in my truck is solid.

I do like my F250’s 6-speed; it’s great for towing. But yeah, there’s something about manual shifting that makes driving more enjoyable.

I had a 2019 and a 2021 Ranger XLT. Both were 4x4 with a 6ft bed, but now Ford only offers crew cabs for 2024. I’d have loved a standard cab with a longer bed, but sadly, those days are gone.

There’s just not enough demand for these configurations. People rarely buy manuals, and short cabs are mostly seen as work trucks, which cuts into F-150 sales.

@Nash
Yeah, only the Tacoma still has a manual option. I know they’re unpopular, but I miss them.

Is it the same 2.3 that’s been around for a while? That’s a solid engine.

@Cassian
The 2024 model has an updated 2.3, but it’s still been a strong 300hp engine for years. I want to put it in my old truck.

Would be awesome in a Factory Five ‘65 coupe build!

@Dylan
That’d be wild! I’d like to match my truck with an extended cab Miata swap.

@Cassian
I had both a 2019 and 2021 with the EcoBoost 2.3. It has serious punch, though it’s thirstier than a 5.0 F-150.

Honestly, most people just prefer automatics these days. Manuals are rare on the dealer lot, and Ford doesn’t want to spend on them for such a tiny market share.

@Nash
But the Bronco has a manual, and it’s on the same platform as the Ranger.

@Nash
Right, but it’s still super niche.

@Nash
Toyota only has it with the quad cab, which isn’t much better.

For sports cars, automatics perform better due to faster shifting. Manuals just don’t sell as well for trucks or regular cars.

@Markdon
Funny how they put in extra work for smaller markets elsewhere but not here.

They still have to adapt everything for US standards and there’s barely any market here for it. In Europe, trucks are generally midsize, so they actually sell there.

Double-clutch, paddle-shift setups are key for max performance with high-power engines.

I miss my old ‘95 F-150 with its manual hubs, stick shift, rubber floors, and wing windows. Simplicity at its finest.

@Remi
Did it have a floor-shift for 4WD? That sounds like a dream truck without all the extra electronics.
