Why does Ford treat US customers this way?

The F-150 is BoF, hybrid, and has a decent-sized engine.

The F-150 either has a hybrid or a large ICE engine, not both. The hybrid is a 3.5L V6, while the V8 isn’t available with a hybrid.

@Ellison
Yeah, that’s the problem, big engine or hybrid, not both.

But… what about the Maverick?

It’s not available as a single cab.

Right, I just wish they’d offer a small truck with an actual bed instead of always pushing 4-door models. It seems like they assume people here don’t want a practical small truck.

Sorry if my last comment was blunt—typing that as I was about to log off :sweat_smile:

No worries! I’m genuinely curious about how emissions rules shape what trucks we get here. You’d think smaller would mean cleaner.

@Mikayla
It’s more about “allowable” emissions. Bigger vehicles are given a pass on higher emissions. The formula basically makes a small truck need around 63 mpg while a big truck can get by with just 16 mpg.

@GEORGE
Wow… 63 mpg for a truck? That’s wild!

That’s a car with a bed, not a real truck. :thinking:

It’s not even a truck.

Mainly because it’s unibody rather than body-on-frame, right?

Exactly. But Maverick fans get defensive if you call it a car with a bed.

@Maeve
Maybe they should just bring back the El Camino and call it a day!

Honestly, they should’ve just named it the Ranchero.

Yeah, but I doubt Ford would go with that name.

@Maeve
If they made a single cab Maverick, I’d consider it. Not what it is now though.

It would probably lose a lot of structure without a C-pillar, which is necessary since it doesn’t have a real frame.

I had a 2019 and a 2021 Ranger XLT. Both were 4x4 with a 6ft bed, but now Ford only offers crew cabs for 2024. I’d have loved a standard cab with a longer bed, but sadly, those days are gone.

Honestly, everything’s gotten worse. Regular cabs and manuals just aren’t a priority anymore. At least I’ve got an extended cab for work.

@Camila
I have an old 2002 super cab, and even though it’s automatic, I wouldn’t trade it for these new trucks with their tiny beds.
