How much should I aim to get off the MSRP for a 2024 model? Looking for some guidance on pricing.
I would aim for 14k to 17k off the MSRP.
I managed to get 12k off MSRP (my out-the-door price was a little more than 10k less than MSRP) back in November 2024. I’d expect something better than that if I were you.
Congrats and best of luck with your purchase!
I’m looking at one tomorrow with 16k off.
At my local Ford dealer, they’re offering 10k off MSRP for XLTs.
$7k factory rebate and then $3k off MSRP is the usual starting point.
I got about $11k off a 2024 Max Limited at the end of January.
It depends on the model. For the Limited trims and above, you should be looking at about 15k off by now. XLTs are probably closer to 10k or maybe a bit more. The deeper discounts are typically on the Limited, Timberline, King Ranch, and Platinum models.
@mikey47
Are those figures including the $7k rebate? There’s one near me with a $7k off price, but that’s just the ‘Ford rebate.’ Seems like with the new models coming out soon, I should be able to negotiate at least another $5k-10k off. Thoughts?
@Cassidy
Yes, those numbers include the rebate. I got $8.5k off in rebates and another $8k off dealer discount for a total of $16.5k off.

Wow, I’d be all in if I could get that deal. The one near me only has the Ford rebate and no discount on MSRP. Might need to head out to the suburbs for better deals.
@Cassidy
Where are you located and which trim are you interested in? These deals are out there, you just have to find the right one. Once they’re gone, prices will go back up.

I’m in the Midwest, and the local dealer has one. But the suburban dealers have more, so they might be more eager to negotiate. I’m still deciding between a few different vehicles, though. I’ve driven them all, and each has its pros and cons. The third-row SUVs I’m looking at are the Ford Explorer Platinum, Expedition Limited, Audi SQ7, Q7, BMW X7, and Mercedes GLS. I’m thinking of leasing since I only need a third row for a few years until my daughter goes to college.
@Cassidy
Your list is all over the place! If it were me, I’d go for a 2025 Explorer ST or Platinum. I was about to buy a 2025 Explorer ST but saw the deals on the Expedition and couldn’t pass up the savings. I’ve got kids and plan to keep the Expedition until at least my second one goes to college. After that, my wife can pick whatever fancy 2-row SUV she wants once the soccer mom duties are done.
@mikey47
I’m just not into Asian SUVs, never have been. I’ve been driving German cars for over 30 years, and we’ve had several Ford Explorers and Escapes, but it’s not really my thing.

I’m the same way. I’ve always been anti-front wheel drive, so that rules out a lot of vehicles for me.
I bought a new 2023 Platinum Max in January and got about 12k off.
Has anyone done the math for a 2025 model? I’m looking at the Platinum with BlueCruise, so that will put MSRP around $90k-$94k. With a $17k discount, you’d be paying about $75k. A 2025 Platinum MAX with Stealth Performance is just over $86k, which drops to around $80k at Granger with a 4% under invoice. Is it worth waiting for the 2025 or should I just go for a 2024?
@Hunter
I get what you’re saying. The 2025 models have major updates, and choosing a 2024 means settling for older tech. Personally, I’d pay the extra cost for the 2025. I’d reach out to every dealer in your area and use their offers to get the best deal.
