A rock hit my moonroof and left a chip. Has anyone dealt with this before? Looking for ideas on how to fix it without replacing the whole thing.
You’d be surprised… there are companies out there that focus on auto glass repair. You can find them easily online to get help nearby.

No way… that’s wild!
I’d say go to a windshield repair shop.
I just bought a DIY kit for myself… wish I could help if you were close by!

I called a windshield repair place, and they said the usual repair products can’t be used on the moonroof because the glass is different, and it might shatter.
@Emory
Yeah, I’ve heard the same thing… they can try, but there’s always a risk it could crack more.
@Emory
That’s odd to me… I thought both would be laminated glass?

Moonroof glass is more like side windows. You can break it with a rock, but windshields are tougher.

Actually, I think moonroofs are laminated, like windshields. If it weren’t laminated, it’d have shattered by now, and it keeps you safe in a rollover. I’d still say find a repair place and get it fixed soon. Should be under $100.

I used to have an older F250 with glass like that, but my newer one has laminated side windows, too. Guessing the latest F150s might be the same.
One reason I’m glad I got my Raptor without a moonroof… but still got the tailgate setup. Hope it doesn’t come to replacing the whole thing. Good luck!
Why’s everyone so heated about this? It’s just a guy looking for advice. Nobody here wants to deal with a bot when they call for help!
If someone’s asking for advice, why jump straight to ‘ask a bot’? C’mon, people.
I’d try one of those DIY kits.
I looked it up… seems like laminated glass that’s good for repairs. Might give it a shot myself and show before and after pics.
Safelite repair, Safelite replace.

Haha!
Cover it with tape for now so it doesn’t spread.
Maybe find a wrecked Raptor with a good moonroof and swap it?
That chip’s likely a warm day away from cracking further… Tempered glass can be tricky.
A DIY kit might work on that crack. Just go easy with the suction cups so you don’t put too much pressure on the glass.
