Got a rock chip on my moonroof, any way to fix this?

Is the chip on the front or back part?

It’s on the front.

How much is a replacement panel? Should just be a few screws holding it in.

Did you kick up a rock with those big tires?

Satellite damage maybe? Haha

Get a new truck. :joy:

Chip repairs aren’t always reliable… might need to replace the whole thing, from what I’ve seen.

I did a self-repair with a kit from Amazon. Tape it for now to keep dirt out until you get a chance to fix it.

Man, you’re in a tough spot with this one.

Since I can’t use the windshield repair stuff, would clear Gorilla tape work to hold it?

Hey, I’ve worked in auto glass repair for years, and I’ve seen a lot of these fixes. First off, you’re getting a mix of good and bad advice here.

The moonroof is laminated glass, so it can be repaired with the right resin or epoxy. Covering it with tape until you can fix it is a smart move, especially to keep out dirt and moisture. Just avoid Safelite… try finding a glass tech with experience in these repairs.

I did a similar repair for a high-end car where they didn’t want to spend thousands on a new glass top. It’s mainly a cosmetic thing, so it shouldn’t hurt the roof’s strength, even if some of those cracks grow.

Good luck with it! Feel free to ask if you have more questions.
