So here’s the deal, I have a friend who was all about getting a Mustang 5.0 with a 10-speed. When he had his RT Challenger, he’d go on and on about wanting the GT, saying stuff like “10-speed this, 10-speed that.”
Then, my other friend actually got a 2024 Mustang GT with the 10-speed and drives it like he’s on a racetrack floors it constantly, races every other night. Not surprisingly, his car started having issues, throwing error codes, and even had the AC go out.
Now, my Challenger friend is saying Mustangs aren’t reliable and can’t handle heavy driving without issues. I told him, of course, the car would act up when it’s treated like a race car 24/7!
Funny part is, he ended up buying a 392 Scat Pack, and let’s just say he hasn’t beat a 5.0 in a race since. Lol.

Not sure what exactly caused it, or how it affected the AC, but I ran into him yesterday, and he said it’s fixed now
Oh, and he wants to sell the car for $48k even though he bought it for $54k. It’s a 2024 Mustang GT Fastback … the way he drives it, I told him he’s crazy asking that price. Lol.
The engine will automatically cut off the AC clutch during hard acceleration. If he’s pushing it to the max over and over, the AC might just shut down entirely and start blowing hot air.
If he’s putting that kind of stress on the car, it could also overheat the catalytic converter or put it in limp mode from high temps in the oil or transmission fluid.
That’s strange … I have a ‘24 GT with a 10-speed too, and I drive it hard every time I take it out. Still feels like it just rolled off the lot every time.
@Grayson
My old 4th-gen 4.6 would struggle if the AC was on during pulls. Lol. My ‘15 GT Performance Pack handles it fine, but I still turn off the AC if I’m about to go hard on it.

Same here … if I see someone rolling up, I reach over and turn off the AC just in case they’re looking for a race.
@Grayson
I know that feeling. Lol. My ‘15 is way more powerful, but there was something about my old ‘01 with the 4.6. Pulling off a smooth run took more effort, like turning off the AC. You could really feel the car working. I love my new one, but it’s almost too easy now. Kinda bittersweet.

My car doesn’t throw codes, and I drive it hard like a race car all the time. Sounds like your friend got a dud if it’s acting up that much.
Yeah, cars made for racing can handle being driven that way.
