But did your friend even change the oil in the first 1000 miles? He might have skipped it, which isn’t good if he wants it to last.

Mustangs don’t have break-in oil, but it’s still good to change it after the first 1000 miles on any new car. Mustang’s factory oil is just regular oil, so it’s not a huge deal if you skip the early change, but it helps.
I think your friend got a bad one. AC on the s550s is notorious for issues, especially if the car’s pushed hard often. I’m on my third AC compressor on my 2016 because of track use.
