Anyone Here Compared the Outer Banks to the Black Diamond?

I’m thinking about getting the Outer Banks for comfort and a nice ride on long road trips. Is this the better choice? Or would the Black Diamond be just as comfortable, but with better off-road capabilities? I’m more into comfort and street driving. Thanks for any advice.

The Black Diamond only comes with the mid package, but with the Outer Banks, you can upgrade to the high or lux package and even get leather seats. So, if comfort is your main goal, Outer Banks with at least the high package is the way to go. Black Diamond is more off-road-focused, similar to the Big Bend but with extra off-road features.

Thanks, that’s what I figured. Appreciate it! :+1:t3:

Also, consider adding the optional locking rear differential to the Outer Banks. That way, you’ll get more off-road capability without losing the comfort.

Yeah, it depends on what you want. The Outer Banks won’t handle off-roading as well as the Black Diamond, but if off-roading isn’t a big deal for you, go for the Outer Banks and maybe a hard top.

Outer Banks for sure. You can add the Sasquatch package if you want to do more serious off-roading.

Only necessary if you plan on hardcore off-roading. Otherwise, a rear locker is usually enough.

Having 35s gives you better clearance, which is great for anyone new to off-roading.

True, but it does make road handling worse.

Yeah, that’s fair. Still works well enough for me on the road.

So if off-roading isn’t your main thing, wouldn’t it be smarter to skip the Sasquatch package for better road handling and gas mileage?

Pretty much, but let’s be real… no one buys a Bronco for the gas mileage.

We have an Outer Banks without Sasquatch. It came with more aggressive gearing and a rear locker, plus we added 35s and Sasquatch takeoff wheels. It handles really well for what we need.

You’re comparing two different beasts. Outer Banks is like a mall crawler, while Black Diamond is built more for off-road.

What’s a mall crawler?

It’s a vehicle that rarely, if ever, sees dirt. Mostly used for city driving.

Kind of. But hey, the Outer Banks is still a solid Bronco, just more geared towards street use. We ended up picking the Black Diamond because the waterproof interior is perfect for kids and dogs.

Black Diamond all the way!

What are you saying? All Bronco trims are pretty capable off-road, aren’t they?
