Why is my dealership adding $975 after I signed?

As you can see, lines 1 and 2 don’t add up to line 3 correctly. A $975 charge was added without explanation. After I signed, I informed the dealership expecting a refund, but they want me to sign a new contract with line 1 increased by $975. I haven’t received the vehicle yet, as they are adding clear bra, tint, and ceramic coatings. I still have my trade-in vehicle for now. Be careful and always check the numbers before signing.

Did you double-check the numbers? It seems like you end up with the same taxable amount even though the figures don’t match.

It’s strange because the totals still don’t align after adding taxes, even though the taxable amount is unchanged.

Are you paying the MSRP for the expedition?

Don’t get me wrong, but this deal looks bad.

The secure fusion is not reliable and the extended warranty should be purchased separately. You can get 0% for 18 months through Ford. Also, skip the window tint, ceramic coat, and window tint. Do it yourself for a better result.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll see if we can remove the extra services. Our deal was better than four other expeditions we checked, considering the trade-in value. That was before discussing the extended warranty. Do you have any suggestions for that?

Get the Ford protection plan before the factory warranty ends; it’s cheaper. Don’t buy any extended warranty besides the factory one.

Extended warranties and extra services are how dealerships make money these days since new car margins are low. Plus, they perform unnecessary repairs in the service department.

Yes, wait until just before 36k. Buy Ford, especially they offer 0% financing for 18 months with no credit check since they cancel it if you stop paying.

What is the MSRP?

$4858 is a rip-off on the extended contract. Remove that and look for other Ford dealers for the Ford protection plan.

Mine cost about $2800 just before the factory warranty ended.

It’s a bumper-to-bumper plan for 100,000 miles with a $100 deductible.

Agreed, I got an 84-month 150k premium care warranty through Granger last year for $2555. It’s best to shop around for that.

Dealerships will do anything. It’s surprising how people are treated when buying a $90k vehicle these days.

$3,300 in fees :disappointed_relieved::speech_balloon:. Next time, contact me and I’ll help you out!

Which fees are you referring to?

Buyer beware.

Also, never buy ceramic coatings from the dealer. They’re the worst and not real coatings. 99.9% of the time it’s a spray-on ‘ceramic sealant’ not a true coating.

Good to know. I’ll try to remove that.

I’m a detailer. If you have questions, just message me. Happy to help.

My friend does window tint. $150 for the two front windows. $400 is too much.

This isn’t a great deal. For what it’s worth, I drove 4 hours each way years ago and saved almost $9k. Something to consider is driving a day away, across a state.

Also, never buy dealership gap insurance. It’s much cheaper through your car insurance.

$800 for a ‘ceramic finish’ is a scam.

You should back out of this deal.

No GAP insurance?

This is a serious issue. Fraud. Raise it and try to get a discount.
