Huh?!
The battery shows a capacity of 14 something kWh. After my battery goes to 0 and I drive for a while, the added energy is around 12kWh.
Where did you get this screenshot from? Is it from the charger app or FordPass? If it’s real, I think something might be broken or not reading correctly.
@Jesse
Yes, that’s from the “Charge History” in the FordPass app. Normally it charges to about 10 or 11 kWh, but this started happening last week after the car was serviced.

Ah, now that you mention it, I can see that from the icons at the bottom. Duh!
I don’t remember if there’s charge history in the car’s infotainment system, maybe check that too…?
But other than that, I’m not sure. Hmm…

Can you check the history on your level 2 charger? My chargepoint app also shows the kWh, so it would be good to compare that to see if it’s also showing that much energy used.

Thanks for the reply – unfortunately, no, it’s a non-smart Grizzl-E charger.
I had a strange 22 kWh show up once too, not sure what caused it.
I had the same thing happen with my last charge, 19 kWh for 80%. The only difference is I had preferred charging hours set. I’ll check to see if my charger has the same data.

Ok, so it really used 19 kWh, lol. I’ll turn off the preferred charging times and the charge limit to see what happens.
I wonder if your car was doing something that required extra power.
Not that it happened, but was there an update or maybe the cabin needed extra heat or something?
Did anything unusual happen around that time?
@Fisher
This started happening after servicing (winter tires) on the 29th. I don’t think that would be the issue, but it’s been happening since then. As far as I know, everything is ‘off,’ and there was no preconditioning (at least in the test this morning) when it showed 22 kWh. It’s happened 5 times now.
@Rebecca
I see a pattern on the 12th (at least the two times I can see) – was it the same on the 12th in previous months, or was it just a coincidence?
I wonder if there’s a rule in the coding that makes the car do certain things on specific dates or after a certain amount of use.
@Fisher
It happened on Dec 3 (21 kWh), Dec 4 (18 kWh), Dec 5 (26 kWh), Dec 6 (22 kWh), but not on Dec 7 (10 kWh), no charge on Dec 8, and back to Dec 9 (24 kWh). Dec 1st and 2nd charged normally.
I wonder if those numbers could even be correct, maybe the car was left on while charging, using power all the time while still charging.
But with the max charging power it has, 26 kWh would take a long time to charge, like 12-16 hours, wouldn’t it?
I believe Ford did an update around Nov 15. The charge calculation might be off in the latest update.
Maybe it uses 6.6 kW to calculate Level 2 charging instead of 3.3 kW, which would double the charge.
I have an Emporia L2 charger and the app shows how many kWh were added. Do you have an app for your L2 charger?

Let me add – where the FordPass app shows 5 kWh, my Emporia app shows 5.74 kWh.
I think the problem is using FordPass as the data source. It’s pretty buggy.
Once, with my Mach E, it said I had charged 280 kWh after a 3-hour charge.
You can use the app for a rough idea, but I wouldn’t rely on the numbers for anything accurate.
