Why are tailgate tables so expensive

I want to add a table to the back of my vehicle, but the price range is wild. Some are as low as $150, while others go up to $600. Is there really a difference? Does the $600 one do more than just hold stuff?

There’s one for $115 on sale right now. A few friends and I use it all the time, and it’s very solid with no rattling. Here’s the link: Amazon.com.

Does it work for the 2024 model? I assume the tailgates haven’t changed.

@kendichristine
The listing says 2021, 2022, and 2023. I think they just haven’t updated the details.

I’ve got that one on my 2024 model. It fits perfectly.

I bought the same one. It’s been great so far.

I spent $500 on one with a slide-out cutting board. It also has a magnet bar for tools or knives. At the time, there weren’t many options available. It’s great for camping and tinkering, but you could make do with something cheaper if you’re willing to modify it.

@Hunter
That’s the one on my wish list for Christmas.

It’s pricey, but worth it if you use it often. I like how easy it is to clean, and the magnet keeps things secure when driving off-road. The cutting board adds extra space and can be replaced if needed. The downside is it doesn’t have molle panels, and of course, the price.

@Hunter
I’ve been eyeing it for the magnet and cutting board. Plus, no drilling into the tailgate is a big plus. It’s one of the few upgrades I plan for my vehicle.

It’s one of my most-used upgrades. I’ve added a lot to my setup, like a fridge, extra fuel storage, and camping gear. But I use the table for everything—cooking, repairs, and more.

I got one from JCR Offroad for around $200. It’s sturdy and works well.

I thought you were talking about those $600 pull-out tables from the trunk floor. No tailgate table should cost more than $150 in my opinion. They all do the same basic thing.

I went with the Ford tailgate table using my points. It’s just a basic table, but it does the job. The install required drilling into the tailgate, which was nerve-wracking, but it worked out.

I also got the Ford one, but found it secondhand for free. Drilling into the tailgate was a new experience for me, but it’s solid once installed. If money wasn’t an issue, I’d get a stainless steel one with a cutting board, but this one works fine for now.

@Stephen
I mostly use it to strap things on, like a first aid kit and a snow shovel. It’s become a good organiser rather than just a table.

Same here, but I managed to break the plastic near it. Now I need to figure out what to replace it with.

If you just need a folding table, I found one for $80. Nothing fancy, just a table.

Why didn’t they give the Bronco a proper tailgate like the old ones? The swing-away design is the worst part of these newer models.

I have the Ford table, and it’s loud. It looks nice and is sturdy, but the rattling is annoying. I wouldn’t buy it again.
