What to look for in a used F-150

I am looking to buy a 2018 XL 2.7L V6 4WD. I have heard positive things about this engine and plan to use the truck as a commuter. I don’t do any towing—I just really like the look of the F150s and can finally afford one. It has 47,000 miles and is certified pre-owned (though I’m not sure if that makes a big difference). I know regular oil changes are important, but is there anything else I should be aware of? For those who own one, how do you find its gas mileage and maintenance? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ensure that it has been properly maintained and serviced. Do not purchase a truck that has been used to plough or is rusted. Avoid vehicles with salvage titles or that have been in an accident. I certainly will not purchase an old truck with mismatched tire manufacturers or cheap tires. If it does, I won’t look at it. Because if you buy inexpensive tires or one at a time, where else do they skip maintenance? That’s a good method to assess if it was well maintained.

I recently bought a 2018 F150 with the 2.7L V6 and found it to be a great choice for commuting. The engine offers a good balance of power and efficiency, and I’ve been pleased with its gas mileage, which is usually around 20-22 mpg combined. Maintenance-wise, it’s important to stick to regular oil changes and keep an eye on the tire pressures and fluid levels. Certified pre-owned does offer some peace of mind with extended warranties and a thorough inspection, but it’s always a good idea to check the vehicle’s service history. Overall, the 2.7L V6 is reliable and economical, making it a solid choice for daily driving.
