I’ve had a tough year driving my 2014 SE Automatic Transmission car. The transmission has failed three times. Every time I shift up after stopping, the car jerks violently. Fixing it costs around $2000 each time. I’ve noticed this only happens during the hot months of July and August, especially on days with a lot of stop-and-go traffic. Are these the main factors that cause transmission issues in these cars?
Stop and go traffic is the worst for wear and tear on the transmission. Once it gets bad, the gears start slipping more. In my experience, my 2014 MY 2015 starts slipping into 4th gear early and over-revs. Highway driving at higher speeds also gets tricky, and the car tells you to pull over and wait until the transmission cools down. At the worst, I was stopped at a red light on a steep hill, and when the light turned green, the car wouldn’t go into any gear. I had to wait for traffic to clear and slowly move to the side in neutral until it cooled down again. I also completely lost reverse gear.
My vehicle also hates stopping on hills in general, especially when turning left. It’ll shudder and shake, and once I’ve crest the hill, it’ll randomly over-rev all the way down before leveling out. I’m just so done with it.
