What is the oil capacity of a 2018 Ford F-150 with a 3.5L Ecoboost engine?

I know this has been talked about before, but I can’t find the information.

My owner’s manual shows a picture of the dipstick and says the engine needs 6 quarts of oil. However, my service receipt says the service department only put in 5 quarts. The dipstick has a MAX mark and a MIN mark at the ends of the hash marks. Should the oil level be at or near the MAX mark when the engine is cold? I had my oil changed at the dealer two days ago. My truck has been sitting for about 6 hours, and the oil level on the dipstick is about 1/3 of the way up from the MIN mark. Is that normal?

Conflicting info on 2018 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost oil capacity. Manual might say 6 quarts, but online sources suggest 6.8 quarts with filter change.

  • Check your manual for capacity with filter included.
  • If unclear, reference online repair guides for your truck.
  • Top up oil to the middle of the dipstick hash marks with recommended type.
  • Ask service department to use the proper amount (including filter) next oil change.

However, it wouldn’t hurt to clarify with the dealership service department.
