I know this has been talked about before, but I can’t find the information.
My owner’s manual shows a picture of the dipstick and says the engine needs 6 quarts of oil. However, my service receipt says the service department only put in 5 quarts. The dipstick has a MAX mark and a MIN mark at the ends of the hash marks. Should the oil level be at or near the MAX mark when the engine is cold? I had my oil changed at the dealer two days ago. My truck has been sitting for about 6 hours, and the oil level on the dipstick is about 1/3 of the way up from the MIN mark. Is that normal?
