This forum has really changed a lot
That’s the button for the heated windscreen. I had it in my old Fiesta. It works so well!

I had one in my old car too, but I don’t have it now and I miss it. I’m getting one installed soon.
It puts electrocuted spaghetti on your windscreen
I really respect when people try to learn about their vehicles. I believe you should understand everything in your car, not just drive it. But honestly, most cars come with manuals and I bet 95% of people never even look at them. Everything’s in there, from fuse numbers to simple instructions. You can figure things out without always going to a garage. I’m not attacking the person who posted this, but ‘what does this do?’ is a question that comes up too often on this forum, especially for cars. You’ll probably get lots of wrong answers or jokes too.
@Bella
By the way, two people in this thread have mentioned the windscreen, while one mentioned the rear windscreen. Look up your car’s manual for confirmation.

It’s for the front windscreen heater. No need to look up the manual.
Heated windscreen is perfect for the winter. It deices quickly without needing to scrape it off.
Have you passed your test?

Recognizing the universal shape of a windscreen button is actually a test question. ‘Show me how to demist your front windscreen’ is asked quite often in tests.
Fun fact, automotive symbols are standardized worldwide under ISO 2575:2021. So this symbol (for heated windscreen) should be the same in every car.

That’s true, but only for cars that have an electric heated windscreen, which is still not that common. Most cars use a fan to demist the screen, and they have a different symbol.
@Gabriella
What’s your point?
That’s for the rear screen demister. The one for the front screen is in a different position.

The rear one is rectangular. This one is for the front.
