What are the main differences between the Mustang GT Premium and the GT PP1? I’m about to switch from my 21’ WRX but I’m torn between these two trims. I can either get a Premium or the GT PP1 if I buy new. I’m planning to keep it stock, no aftermarket mods. I know this decision is up to me, but I’d love to hear about your experiences.
For those with the Mustang GT Premium, do you ever wish you had the performance package? Do you think the Premium feels lacking in any way?
And for the GT PP1 owners, is the base model not enough for you? Do you feel like the base package is adequate, or do you prefer the PP1? Also, is the PP1 too much for daily driving with the performance suspension?
Coming from a basic WRX, there’s nothing fancy about it. I’m pretty satisfied with my car’s performance since it has all the bolt-ons and E60. The A/C is pretty weak and drains a lot of power. The sound system is lackluster, and there’s quite a bit of noise inside. So, I wouldn’t need much to be happy with the interior. I’m looking for a quick and reliable daily driver. I feel like I’ve modified the WRX to the point where it’s no longer enjoyable. I’m constantly monitoring everything, and even though it’s all running smoothly, I’m worried that Uncle Rodney will come knocking any day now. I don’t even drive it spiritedly anymore; I treat it like an economy car just to avoid replacing the motor.
If any of you switched from a WRX to a Mustang, I’d love to hear about your experiences too.
That sounds like the dream. If I buy used, it could fit my budget, but I just don’t trust people. Spending that much money makes me nervous that the previous owner might have abused it
I bought mine with 14k miles from the dealer who sold it new. It came with a full warranty and everything. The previous owner averaged 19 mpg, while I’m averaging 11 lol. The Brembos were hardly broken in. There wasn’t a single chip on the front end, and they just drove it gently around Clear Lake, TX. I grabbed it right before car prices went crazy
Prices can really vary by region. The stripes were $375 from Big Worm, and installation cost about double that. My guy is a pro at hand pin striping. He told me not to ask him to do another one. Some might find it easier and charge less, but I wanted the best job possible and I knew what I’d get with him
Is there anything cross-compatible? I’m thinking about buying a 17 PP GT this week, but I want the levers to change modes like the Premium has. Can I just get the parts from a Premium and plug them in?
I switched from an '18 GT Premium to a '20 Premium 401A PP car. The non-PP wasn’t bad, but I definitely enjoyed driving the PP1 more, especially with the suspension. The base interior works, but it feels pretty cheap compared to the comfort and tech in a Premium, especially the 401A with the digital dash. I’d suggest looking for a used one as long as it has a clean title; you won’t have much to worry about
I’ve had a base model, a Premium PP1, and now I own a PP2 301A supercharged 2019. I’d personally lean towards a performance pack, but since it’s a daily driver, the longer gears for better mpg and the softer suspension might suit you better. However, I never found the PP1 suspension harsh at all. It’s tighter for sure, but I didn’t notice much difference between my base and PP1 when driving on the highway. The Brembos are fantastic. I used my PP1 as a daily for three years, and it was a Premium PP. Maybe a slightly used PP 301A car would be the sweet spot for you
I went with a Premium that has the 12-inch dash. Since it’s my daily driver, the heated and cooled seats along with the heated steering wheel are huge benefits for me. I also enjoy working on cars, so I’ll be adding some mods in the future. For now, I’m really pleased with how it handles corners
