Trouble Starting My '06 Ford F150 After Gear Lock-Up Incident

Hello all…

I’m having a bit of an issue with my 2006 Ford F150 Supercrew Cab, and I’m hoping someone here might have some advice. Here’s the scenario:

I was at a red light, and when it turned green, I decided to test something out. I put the truck in 1st gear and slowly pressed the gas. My exhaust sounds great, so I could hear the shifting clearly. Not wanting to stress the engine too much, I attempted to shift back to drive. However, the gear locked up. I could tell from the engine power that it hadn’t actually shifted.

To avoid any issues, I pulled into the nearest parking lot, put the truck in park, and turned it off. When I tried to start it again, the truck wouldn’t turn on.

Some details about my truck:

  • 2006 Ford F150 Supercrew Cab
  • 232,000 miles on the odometer
  • Transmission and motor were replaced and have roughly 65,000 miles on them

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what might be going on? I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions on what to check or what might be causing this problem. Thanks in advance!

Edit for additional info:

  • The battery is relatively new, so I don’t think it’s a battery issue.
  • I haven’t noticed any warning lights or unusual noises before this incident.

Looking forward to your responses. Thanks in advance

Consulting a mechanic for a diagnostic is usually the best way to handle complex issues. They can offer a precise diagnosis and recommend the appropriate solution.

There might be a problem with your transmission’s shift solenoid or a related component. Try checking Transmission fluid level and Check for error codes
