Should I sell my 85 ford ranger, if so, for how much?

60k miles. No rust worth concern over, plus I plan on getting the underbody coated before I sell. New fuel pump, spark plugs, clean battery, just rebuilt the transmission. Interior is near perfect, red leather with no tears. I am hoping to sit on it a couple years then sell for 15k. Do you think that’s possible?

I bought it for 7.5k, then put another 3k of work into it. Not driven in the winter and stored in a garage.

Thanks for looking.

Hold on to that gem.

I forgot to mention the specs. It’s an automatic with a four-cylinder engine and fuel injection.

It depends on whether you need the extra cash or not. The truck looks great, so I’d hold onto it.

Don’t sell it. One in similar condition sold for $3,000 nearby. Hold on to it—its value is likely to either remain steady or increase as newer models become scarce.

You don’t need to undercoat it before selling it. There are various buyers interested in Rangers, including:

  • Bargain hunters who plan to flip the truck for a profit.
  • Buyers looking to drive the truck without transferring the title into their name.

I have a 1988 Ranger and recently replaced the 2.0L engine with a 302. I took it for a test drive around the block this weekend and plan to start using it for my commute next week.

Apologies for the timing issue. You can check it out here: https://youtu.be/6eLThYj-CS4?si=iS-1tTb0gmtGG1HW

If you were close by, I’d definitely buy this. I’ve always wanted an early-generation Ranger, and this color is just perfect.

It’s stunning. I think you’d need to find a serious collector to get that kind of money for it. Good luck, it’s definitely a remarkable ranger.

I had an '87 model which I gave to my son’s best friend for free, so I’m not sure how much to sell it for. I now have a 2001 model that I’m working on as a project in memory of my father, who passed away on June 6, 2024, so I didn’t need the '87 anymore.

Wow, I’m in Wisconsin and this is my dream car! After the Kia Boyz stole my car twice, I’m now just using a scooter. I’m hoping to find a Ranger, but my budget is only $5,000. What a beauty though!

That truck is a classic, and from the photos, it seems to be in excellent condition. If you needed to quickly sell it for a few thousand dollars, it wouldn’t be difficult. However, for someone interested in buying, the price would be $10,000.

Great vehicle! I’d recommend listing it for the amount you paid plus the cost of any improvements, and maybe add an extra 20% to see what offers you get. Good luck!
