Out with the 2021 Powerboost, in with the 2024 Platinum

Same question—what made you jump from Powerboost to Lightning? Any issues with the Powerboost?

Powerboost was great overall, but it gave me hell at first—evap code kept coming up, dealer couldn’t figure it out for three months. Almost did a buyback. EV life has been calling me for a while, and with all the incentives (0% for 72 months, rebates), the timing just worked out. Plus, I upgraded from a Lariat to a Platinum.

Appreciate the insight—you’re the first person I’ve seen make the hybrid-to-EV jump.

I’ve read Powerboosts are one of the most unreliable Fords out right now. Not sure where the Lightning ranks, but I wouldn’t be surprised if your neighbor follows your lead soon.

Wouldn’t surprise me either. Mine started shuddering during braking right before I traded it in—felt like warped rotors, but in Neutral, it was smooth. Dealer’s problem now. Pro Power Onboard was great, though—whole-home generator setup. Lightning can do the same, just harder to recharge without a gas station nearby.

Same boat—traded my '21 King Ranch Powerboost for a '23 Lightning Lariat. Had an '04 F150 for years and a Maverick hybrid for a bit—loved that little truck.

Crew cab, short bed, paved roads… real manly.
