New Ranger for 45k… Is this real life?

Oh, totally! I have the 2.3L in my 2019, and it’s a beast.

I’ve got a ‘21 and love the engine. Came from the old V8 mindset, but these new ones really surprise you. The 2.7L would be tempting for an upgrade, but I’m good with the 2.3L too.

Yep, and I’m about to be one of those people… The 2.7L engine is calling my name.

I built a 2.7L 4WD with locking diff, advanced tow package, and a rear seat safe. It came to about $47k. As soon as I pay off my Subaru, I’m looking at Rangers, Tacomas, or Mavericks unless someone can convince me otherwise.

@Jacob
I considered the Canyon and Frontier for a bit, but the 2.7L engine keeps bringing me back to the Ranger.

I still don’t fully trust Nissan, and if I had to pick, I’d probably go with the Colorado. I plan on beating mine up anyway.

Which people are buying these? Every dealership I go to is packed with new stock they can’t seem to sell.

It’s like saying grocery stores don’t sell because they’re always stocked.

@Brandon
I worked in the auto industry, so I can tell when the same cars are sitting there for months. But nice try!

Aren’t they the top-selling vehicle in America?

Nah, I think it’s the RAV4. But the Ford F-Series has been the best-selling truck in the U.S. for like 47 years.

I’d explain, but I think it’s a bit too complicated for most here.

@Phoebe
Nice try, but no ‘gotcha’ moment here.

Actually, I’m a Ranger fan. :facepunch:

Can’t even get a 6-foot bed anymore! It’s all crew cabs with small beds. If you want a real truck, you need a 3/4 ton now.

I get where you’re coming from, but the new Rangers outperform the old ones in every way except price.

How’s the durability? And what’s really the difference between the Maverick and Ranger?

@Vinnie
Big difference! The Ranger is a traditional body-on-frame with rear-wheel or 4WD, bigger engine, and better towing. Maverick is more like a crossover with a bed. Front-wheel or AWD, unibody, and less power. But honestly, the Maverick is enough truck for most people.

@Sierra
Totally agree with that.

@Sierra
So… not a real truck then.
