Leasing a Ford Edge… Should I Replace All Tires?

I got a nail in my tire and it looks like I need to replace it. Should I replace all four tires?

It depends. If your car is AWD, you will want the same tread pattern on all tires. It looks like a standard tire, but if the tread is low on a few, choose the two worst and replace them with the same tread pattern.

If I were close to finishing my lease, I would replace one tire.

You don’t need to replace all four tires, but depending on how much tread the other tires have, it might make more sense. If you’ve had these tires for between 60,000-100,000 KM, I suggest checking the tread.

Also, you can use Facebook Marketplace for some good deals. I got a set of four wheels and tires for $400, three years old, used for about 10-15k km.

If you decide to get a new tire, just match it. It’s safer that way.

I was in the same situation with my last lease. I bought one used matching tire off eBay that had the same wear for about $60.

Good idea. How much did you pay to have someone install it?

About $20, I think, is what my local tire shop charges per tire to install.

Buy a used tire that has enough tread so the dealership or lease considers it acceptable. It doesn’t have to be the same brand, just needs to have sufficient tread.

No, just replace one tire. It seems like your tires have a good amount of tread, I assume the others do too.

The only time I would change all four is if they’re low on tread and need to be replaced.

How much time is left on your lease? If it’s short, you might be able to plug it. If not, replace one tire.

Really? Come on man. You can’t plug that!

Not long term, no, but in a pinch to get somewhere or to drive until you find a new tire, it would be okay, especially in town.

Who are you going to get to plug it? Not unless you do it yourself!

Plug kits are $10.

But, that one’s in a bad spot!

I have bought single tires on eBay. Search for the same tire and check the tread depth.
