Just got mine, and I absolutely love it! It’s everything I hoped for and a huge quality-of-life upgrade from my 2012 Escape, especially since that one didn’t even have AC, lol.
For those wondering about fitting kids and car seats, it’s a tight fit but manageable. I have my forward-facing child behind me (I’m 6’ tall), and while it’s not too bad, I wouldn’t take the whole family on a six-hour road trip in it. Fitting two kids and a dog might be a challenge, which is a bit disappointing since my dog loves car rides, but I haven’t tested it yet.
That said, the trade-off is totally worth it for me because I love this truck. Our other vehicle is a three-row SUV, and if that were also on the smaller side, I probably would’ve gone for something bigger. But after a week of driving, I couldn’t be happier with my choice!

First black one I’ve seen. I don’t usually like black cars, but this one looks sharp.
Yeah, I had second thoughts after ordering it because people kept saying how hard black cars are to keep clean. But honestly, I love it! As long as you’re not obsessed with keeping it spotless, it’s just like any other dark color.
I waited two years for my XL. Had it for three months when we found out my wife was pregnant with twins. Loved that truck and really wanted to make it work, but after six months, I realized it just wasn’t practical. Every time I put a car seat behind my seat, I had to move the driver’s seat up 4 inches, which made driving uncomfortable.
Traded it in for a Honda Pilot. Was tough to let go, but looking back, I’m glad I did. Got exactly what I paid for it (even after taxes) as trade-in value and got the Pilot fully loaded.
One of the local sales guys got one when they first came out. Said it was fine for quick school and daycare runs, but any time they went anywhere as a family, they used his wife’s SUV.
I’d love a Maverick, but with a family, I don’t think it’s the best choice.
Might sound weird, but I raise my seat up higher so my knees aren’t lifted, and I don’t feel the need to sit so far back. I’m 6’1” and ride comfortably that way. My 5’11” son sits behind me without feeling squished, and my 5’ daughter fits fine too. Rear-facing car seat on the passenger side isn’t a problem. I could fit another car seat, but probably not rear-facing.
@Nolan
I was going to say the same thing. I’m 5’11” with long legs, got a 3-year-old in a car seat and a 6-year-old in a booster. It’s not bad at all. Raising the seat helps a lot. Definitely not a ton of legroom, but it works for now. We figure it’ll be fine for at least another 10 years.
