How does one go about getting/using Forscan?

What are your favorite things you can do with Forscan?

Once they take your foreskin it is really difficult to get it back.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Forscan and more: Forscan Guide

I like enabling my fog lamps to stay on with my high beams, allowing fog lamps with turn signals, disabling the seatbelt reminder, removing Sirius from media choices, and adjusting EQ settings for the sound system. It also reads trouble codes from all modules.

I have a 2018 high Lariat and made the following changes:

  • Secure idle lock (truck can’t shift out of park without fob)
  • Global open/close for windows from the fob
  • Auto-fold mirrors when truck turns off
  • ‘Bambi mode’ (headlights and fogs stay on with high beams)
  • Disabled seatbelt reminders
  • Startup chime disabled
  • Lane change signal (soft press) to 4 flashes
  • DRL brightness to 100%
  • Taillights off when DRLs are on
  • Temp readouts on digital dash
  • Forced regen options (diesel)
  • Nav controls allowed while moving
  • Double tap panic button on fob
  • Auto-lock after 45 seconds if unlocked but left
  • Disabled double honk (walking away while truck is on)
  • Disabled auto start/stop

Using a cheap adapter from Amazon with an HP laptop for programming.

All sound reasonable except the taillights off with DRLs. Curious, what’s the reason?

I may have worded it poorly. They’re just rear running lights with the DRLs. I didn’t see the need; if the weather’s bad, I’ll have headlights or fogs on.

I turned off the honk when you leave it running and get out. Annoying when backing a camper and need to check something.

Also reset adaptive cruise and added temp numbers to coolant and transmission gauges.

Watch videos on Forscan. It’s easy but also easy to mess things up.

I’ve been meaning to ask the same thing. I think Forscan is a free download, but not sure which site is legitimate? I already bought the OBD II cable for my laptop.

Just did this. Forscan is free; you need an ELM327 and some drivers.

If the adapter doesn’t connect, install the drivers, then make an account on Forscan. Approval takes 1-2 business days, and you get a free 2-month trial license for full functionality.
