How can a car still feel brand new after 10 years and 134k miles?

I’ve owned this car for nearly a decade, and it has 134k miles on it. Everything works, and I’ve had zero issues. It’s still running and looking as good as new. What could be the reason?

I’ve had mine for 10 years too. All I’ve done is regular oil changes, tires, plugs once, and dealt with a clutch recall. I’m at 150k, and it’s still going strong.

It sounds like you’re on top of maintenance. Take care of your car, and it’ll take care of you.

I absolutely love this car. It’s been amazing.

That’s such a great perspective to have.

I’ve had mine for 9 years. Just basic maintenance and had to replace some shocks because the roads I used to drive on were rough. It’s a really well-built car. I’ve spent more on tires at this point than repairs.

@Clara
I do the same with snow tires in winter and performance tires in summer. Mine is the AWD version, and it handles snowy, icy roads so effortlessly. My wife and I still can’t believe how capable it is.

I’m thinking of getting a 2019 Fusion with 180k miles. Does anyone know if these can last up to 300k and still run well?

I’d only consider it if it’s a hybrid or a 2.5L engine. Those seem to last longer.

@Lynne
I’ve got a 2019 Fusion Hybrid SE with almost 120k miles, and it’s been fantastic. No problems so far, just regular maintenance and a couple of fluid flushes.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this car makes it to 300k.

@Vivian
My 2016 2.5L has 303k km on it and is still running well.

My 2014 hybrid has 85k miles and has been perfect so far.

I’ve had my 2016 for 5 years now, and the only time it’s been in the shop is for inspections.

I have a 2014 SE 2.5 with over 176k miles. The only issues I’ve had were a broken heater hose and a failed thermostat. I’ve done regular maintenance like oil changes, spark plugs every 50-60k miles, and brake replacement at 150k. Thinking about upgrading to the 2.7 twin-turbo sport version someday.

What kind of maintenance have you done to keep it running this well for so long?

I’ve done all the maintenance myself. I never take it to the dealer or quick oil change places.

I change the oil every 5k miles, transmission fluid every 10k, replaced spark plugs at 110k, and replaced the serpentine belt as a precaution at 130k. That’s it! This car still drives like it’s brand new.

@Vivian
Was replacing the serpentine belt hard to do on your own? I’m at 143k and think mine might need replacing soon.

You can usually spot if it’s stretched, but I had Ford handle it. It wasn’t expensive. I could’ve done it myself, though.
