Hey there,
My truck’s engine isn’t running smoothly because there’s a problem with the fifth cylinder. I need to know the order in which the cylinders fire so I can find which one is number five. Can someone tell me how the cylinders are arranged in the engine when I’m standing in front of the truck? I want to replace the coil and spark plug for the right cylinder.

For the 2001 Ford 4.6 Triton V8 engine, the firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Following this order is important for the engine to run smoothly and efficiently.

Firing order 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 according to my Chilton. 4 and 8 are the back cylinders.
To determine the location of cylinder 5 in your truck, check your owner’s manual or consult a mechanic.
Most Ford engines have cylinders numbered from left to right, so cylinder 5 is likely towards the middle-right.
Once identified, replace the coil and spark plug, referring to your manual or seeking professional help if needed.
