Hey guys, I noticed my engine sounds different recently. I’ve had this car for 3 months now and I’m a bit paranoid because of the wet belt issue I heard about. The car has 69K KM on it and is from 2018. This video was taken after a short drive today in cold weather (around 5°C). I also heard a chirping sound a week ago, but I couldn’t record it, and now it’s gone. What do you think?
Sounds normal, mine had the low oil pressure issue, trust me you’d know it, it sounds awful and you’d hear it from inside the car.

grind clatter clatter clatter
Maybe nothing, if anything I could only think lifters or motor mounts.
I don’t hear anything weird, mine sounds like that and it had the timing belt changed. It goes away when it gets warm.
Yeah, they rattle like that, it’s fine.
Yep, it’s fine .
You’ve got the high-pressure fuel pump making noise and then the purge valve making noise. I have the exact same car, it’s 100% normal.

Thanks a lot! Cheers.

I’m also a mechanic and did my timing belt, now I’m doing my turbo replacement.
@David
When do you suggest changing the timing belt?

I had mine done around 80k, and the mechanic I went to said it was a good time to get it done.

Thanks, I’ll keep this in mind.

Do you know the maintenance history?

I’d do it before you hit 160k km.

Thanks, I was thinking around 100-120k. I have no maintenance history, and the oil I changed after buying was long overdue.
@Emlyn
Earlier! 90-100k is maximum in my opinion. Especially if you don’t have history. I did mine at 100k, you could see damage on the belt, I was just in time. Lol. Ford even suggests ‘keeping an eye on it’ from 80-90k, but you can’t ‘keep an eye on it’ since your whole engine has to come apart. Sooner is better.
@Marley
I’m already feeling a bit suspicious because of how bad the condition of the oil was in the car. I think I’ll get it done when I finish with the monthly payments for the car loan, which is about the same price as a belt change anyway. I could reach 85-90K by then. Thanks for the advice!
@Emlyn
Yeah, it’s an expensive piece of rubber, lol. I changed it myself with the help of some mates, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s a lot of work.
