I recently purchased a 2015 Ford Escape SE with a 1.6 EcoBoost engine, turbocharged, and with sports mode and an off-road feature. The vehicle only has 5,300 miles on it, and I got it from a used dealership with a warranty that covers up to 12,000 miles. However, a third-party inspection is required after Ford tears down the engine to determine if the warranty company will cover the repairs.
The issue started with the vehicle shaking violently in the front when starting, along with a noticeable loss of coolant. Ford has concluded that coolant is leaking into the third cylinder, with a pressure reading at just 10 psi. You can actually feel the entire car shift. The engine code indicates a misfire on cylinder three. It’s already been determined that the problem isn’t related to the spark plugs, fuel injectors, or coil packs.
My main concern is whether the warranty company will pay for a new engine if they find an issue after the inspection. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation, or can offer insight into what to expect from the warranty company in this case? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!
