Buying Advice New 2023 XLT/Lariat or New 2024 XLT/Lariat

Hey guys,

I am not new, and looking to buy my first pickup—specifically an F150. My current car is 13 years old, so it’s time for an upgrade. I am set on buying new, and I have narrowed it down to either a '23 Lariat or a fully loaded XLT. However, I’ve also seen some '24 Lariats with similar pricing. Given that I plan to keep this truck long-term, I am wondering if I should go for the '24 or stick with a discounted '23. Any advice? I’m open to all opinions.

Jumping from a 13-year-old car to a new F-150 is exciting! The Lariat and fully loaded XLT are both solid choices.

The decision between a '23 Lariat and a '24 Lariat depends on a few things:

Features: Compare the features offered in both model years. Are there specific tech or comfort options you can’t live without in the '24?

Pricing: Consider the overall cost difference. Sometimes, the extra features in the '24 might not justify the price increase.

Long-term value: While it’s tempting to go for the newest model, think about resale value in the long run. The '23 Lariat might hold its value well.

I was in a similar situation a few years back when deciding between buying a new vehicle and considering whether to go for the latest model or a great deal on the previous year’s model. I found that newer models, like the '24 Lariat, often come with updated features, improved technology, and sometimes better resale value, which might be worth the extra cost if you’re planning to keep the truck long-term. On the other hand, the '23 Lariat, being a year older, might come with a better discount and still offer excellent features if it suits your needs. Ultimately, balancing the cost against the benefits of newer features is key, so consider what upgrades are important to you and if the savings on the '23 outweigh the advantages of the '24 model.
