Hi everyone, I’m looking for help with an issue on my 2019 Raptor.
About a year ago, my “Front Lane Assist Camera Module” stopped working. When I started the truck, I smelled something burning, and then I saw a warning pop up saying something like “Lane Assist Module malfunction. Please see dealer” followed by “Adaptive Cruise Control malfunction” and “Lane Assist Warning.”
I checked for a replacement part, but a genuine OEM module would have cost hundreds of dollars. Instead, I found a used module on eBay for $75, same part number, but from a 2020 Raptor instead of a 2019.
After installing it, I got a message saying “New Module installed. Front Camera Not Aligned. Please see dealer.” I took that as a good sign and tried to calibrate it using Forscan, but the calibration failed every time. Looking into it, I noticed the Forscan spreadsheet for the module shows extra columns for the 2020 version, which aren’t there for the 2019 version. I think this might be causing the calibration issue because it’s trying to read data the 2019 doesn’t support.
Does anyone know if there’s a way to make the 2020 module act like the 2019 one? Maybe some Ford software to reformat it? The dealer wants $300-$460 to program it, and I’d rather do it myself if possible.
If Forscan isn’t doing it, you might be out of luck without the dealer’s help. They use something called FDRS, which is way more advanced than Forscan. Accessing FDRS is about $150 for two days, but you’ll also need a special tool called a Mongoose module, which costs $575. There’s a borrowing program on this forum, but the waitlist is long.
It might be best to let the dealer handle it since you’ve already done as much as you can.

That’s tough to hear. So even if I get FDRS access, I’d still need Mongoose and can’t just use my laptop like Forscan? That’s frustrating.
Yeah, FDRS isn’t really for the casual user. It’s made for Ford-certified technicians. Forscan is kind of like a DIY tool, while FDRS is much more complex. I’d say just go to the dealer; it’s probably worth it in this case.

You’re probably right. I have an appointment for Monday, but I was hoping to avoid the $460 bill if it was something I could figure out myself. I usually like learning how to do things, but it seems like this one’s out of reach.
