I’m about to buy winter tires and I was considering steel rims since they are much cheaper than the fancy ones. Has anyone used them before and can share how they look
I have steel rims for my winter tires… makes my car look like an undercover cop car.

LOL
I just ordered winter tires and I’m going down to 225/65R17. The savings from the 18-inch tires will likely cover the extra cost for aluminum rims. If you plan to keep the car for more than 2-3 years, I’d suggest investing in better rims that will last.
I’m getting winter tires with steel rims this Friday. The rims are half the price of the cheapest aluminum ones. In three years, they may not look great, but at least it’s clear to other drivers that I’m on snow tires, so I feel safer on slippery roads.
If you’re not changing the tires yourself, it might not matter, but if you are, remember that steel wheels can rust and get stuck, making it difficult to switch them.

Any good tire shop will use an anti-rust tire mounting lubricant. You can tell when a tire has been on a rim for many years without that being a problem, but with that lubricant, it won’t be an issue.
