Are there any problematic years between 2015 and 2020 for the 3.5L Ecoboost engine that should be avoided?

Yes, 2017 and 2019 have failed cam phasers, Ignition coil & spark plug issues, and rattle noise issues hence they should be avoided.

I’ve been looking into the reliability of 3.5L Ecoboost engines from 2015 to 2020, and while there aren’t any terrible years to completely avoid, there are a few things to keep in mind. The 2011-2014 models had some intercooler condensation issues, but that seems to be fixed by 2015. Some owners mention cam phaser noise on 2017-2019 models, but it appears to be more of an annoyance than a major problem.
