I recently bought a 2024 Ford Escape hybrid from the dealership with 0 miles on it. However, after a few weeks, I started noticing a squealing or squeaking noise that sounds like someone speeding and then trying to brake (a “skqueeeerd” sound, if that makes sense). This noise usually happens when I stop at a red light, and the car shuts off because it’s a hybrid. When the car turns back on, before even pressing the gas to accelerate, the squealing sound occurs, and the car seems to jerk a bit.
I took it to the dealership, but they’re giving me a hard time about fixing the issue or providing a new vehicle. They claim they’ve “never heard of the issue and have no idea what’s going on,” and that it’s nothing to worry about. This isn’t very comforting, especially since they provided us with a 2023 Ford Escape as a loaner, and it does the same thing, though less frequently.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue with their 2023-2024 Ford Escape hybrid? Any advice on how to prove that this is a defect, or suggestions on how to handle the dealership in this situation, would be greatly appreciated. I’m really not sure what to do next.
