Hey everyone, I am dealing with a serious and dangerous issue that the dealership hasn’t been able to solve. When it’s wet outside, my F150 sometimes displays a “transmission not in park” message and occasionally “hill start unavailable.” The auto brake hold has also stopped working.
The really concerning part is that the truck will unexpectedly shift into park when stopped, which has happened to me in parking lots, at stop signs, and at red lights. This is incredibly abrupt and has been observed twice by a technician today, though they couldn’t replicate it later. My wife has also experienced this issue without me mentioning it.
I’m at a loss because I really like my F150 Powerboost, but I’m genuinely worried about safety when driving it. Is anyone from Ford Corporate on here?
It only happens when it’s wet outside? How wet are we talking—just dewy or after a full rain? I’d suspect something might not be fully plugged in, allowing water to get in, or maybe something is getting shorted out by water somewhere.
Your F-150’s unexpected shifting into park is a serious safety issue. Escalate the problem to Ford Corporate, drive cautiously, document incidents, and be prepared to manually shift out of park.
