2016 Ford Escape, 104,000 Miles: P1450 Code and Strange Noise

I’ve been dealing with a check engine light on my 2016 Ford Escape, which has 104,000 miles. It’s throwing a P1450 code. We replaced the fuel evaporative canister, but the light came back on with the same code. There’s also a noise, similar to a leaf blower, that occasionally comes from the rear near the gas tank. We suspect it might be a vacuum issue.

The noise only occurs when my foot is off the gas, such as when coasting into lights or roundabouts, or when stopped at stoplights. It’s sporadic and happens only a handful of times. Interestingly, the noise stops when I pull over and restart the car, or when I accelerate.

My engine has also shut off twice while driving, which I believe might be due to fuel starvation. However, after pulling over and restarting the car, it runs fine again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any ideas on what could be going on? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

The P1450 code, the strange noise, and the engine stalling might be all interconnected. You might be dealing with a stubborn fuel system issue.

Since you’ve already replaced the canister, Then the vacuum leak theory is promising.

A leak in the evaporative system can cause a variety of problems, including the noise you’re hearing.

It might also be causing the engine to stall due to a lack of fuel. I’d recommend using a smoke machine to pinpoint any leaks.

Also, check the fuel pump and filter to rule out those as culprits.
