2015 Ford Escape 1.6 EcoBoost - Tips for Longevity and Upgrades

Hello!

My wife and I recently inherited a 2015 Ford Escape SE with the 1.6L EcoBoost engine. It’s been garage kept and only has about 28,000 miles on it. I’m aware that the 1.6L is more prone to issues compared to the 2.0L, so I’m looking for ways to extend its longevity as much as possible.

As a former MR2 Turbo owner, I have a strong dislike for plastic charge components. I’m particularly interested in finding out if the 1.6 Fiesta Turbosmart diverter valve and intercooler would fit the Escape, as I’d like to prevent potential future failures.

Additionally, if you have any general tips or information that could help prolong the life of this engine or improve its reliability, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

The 1.6 EcoBoost can be a bit tricky, but with proper care, it can last a long time. Swapping in Fiesta parts is an interesting idea, but compatibility might be a challenge.

Focus on regular maintenance, using high-quality fluids, and avoiding harsh driving conditions.

Consider upgrading the spark plugs and air filter for better performance and efficiency.

Keep an eye on the turbocharger’s health by letting the engine warm up before pushing it hard.

Focus on regular maintenance: oil changes, air filters, coolant checks, and proper driving habits are crucial. Consider aftermarket upgrades like a diverter valve and intercooler, but prioritize compatibility and quality.

To prolong the life of your 2015 Escape SE 1.6L EcoBoost, maintain it regularly, avoid harsh driving, use high-quality fluids, monitor for issues, and consider a tune-up.

While Fiesta parts might not be a direct fit, consult a mechanic for potential modifications.
