Just hit 90k miles. I bought this car two and a half years ago at 74k miles. All I’ve done is oil and oil filter changes along with cabin air and engine air filter replacements. Fingers crossed it keeps going.
You should be careful with the PTU and Transmission if you aren’t keeping up with service. Heat can damage them along with not doing maintenance. It won’t be a matter of if but when.

Neglecting maintenance can ruin any car.
@Maci
What maintenance should I focus on at 90k-100k miles?

You should change the trans fluid, engine coolant, PTU fluid, and rear diff fluid.

Got it! I change the oil every 5k miles and the cabin and engine filters are easy. Plus, I keep it detailed and clean inside and out. Looks like it’s getting proper care.

Changing the rear diff fluid is tough. I had to use a tool from a serpentine belt adjustment to get the plug out.
@Gianna
I want to change the fluid in the rear diff too but I’m unsure where the drain and fill plugs are and what fluid to use.

The fill plug is actually the drain plug. You need a low-profile 3/8 drive to crack it open or a cut serpentine belt tightener. A hand pump with a 1/4 inch tube is needed to suck out the old diff fluid, which you should measure so you know how much to put back in. The oil needed for the rear diff is 80w-90.
@Gianna
Oh no. I did my PTU, and it was costly because the fill plug was seized. I’m sure the plug in the diff is stuck too. Do I need a jack or a lift for this?

It’s tricky, but I managed on two tire ramps.

Don’t forget to change the spark plugs. I did mine at 110k miles, but it was missing by then.
Same here with my 2014 1.6. I got a new engine at 63k and a new RDU at 74k. Both were fully covered by warranty. Other than that, it’s been good.
I just drove a friend’s 2014 with the 2.0 ecoboost. It was surprisingly quick and seemed like a decent car. Not really related to this, but take care of yours.

This 1.6 with 180 HP and turbo is also fun. I never felt underpowered, but the 2.0 is definitely a beast.
You should remember to drain the transmission fluid.
Who does the work on these? We don’t have local mechanics familiar with them. The options I have are the dealer, Tuffy, Walmart, or Jiffy Lube. Who do you think would do the best job?
