I had a bad cam sensor and replaced it. Now the truck is running great, and I cleared the code. Everything looks good, but I still have a “Permanent” P054A code. Does anyone know how to clear this code? I’ve been driving for a few days with no other codes showing up. I think there’s a specific driving sequence to clear it. Does anyone know the details? I tried driving above 30 mph for 5 minutes, then idling for 30 seconds three times, but the code still won’t go away.
The “Permanent” P054A code will clear itself after several drive cycles with no issues. Keep driving normally, and it should eventually disappear.
A permanent P054A code in a 2013 F150 means “Cold Start B Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced Bank 1.” It’s triggered when the camshaft timing is off. Causes include bad camshaft actuators, faulty camshaft position sensors, or timing chain problems.
