Hi all, I’ve got a 2007 Ford Edge with a suspected water pump leak. I’ve been told this is a big job (around 11.4 hours). I plan to run a coolant pressure test to confirm if it’s the water pump. If it turns out to be the pump, should I replace the timing chain and oil pump while I’m in there? I’ve already bought a kit that includes everything.
Also, on a side note, I’m painting my 2003 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson (Black UA color code). Any advice on how much paint I’d need for just the cab, including primer?
If you’re already tearing down the engine for the water pump, replacing the timing chain and oil pump is a good idea. It’ll save you a lot of work in the future since everything will already be accessible.
For the coolant pressure test, it’s a straightforward way to confirm if the water pump is leaking. Here’s a good video guide on how to do it if you haven’t already seen it.
Painting the cab of your F-150 will probably take about 2-3 quarts of base coat, plus primer and clear coat. It’s always good to buy a little extra just in case.

Good advice! I’d also recommend doing a test spray to ensure the color matches before painting the whole cab.
I had the same issue with my Edge. The water pump job is a pain, but doing the timing chain and oil pump at the same time made a huge difference in reliability afterward.
