2007 Ford 6.0 No Communication Through OBD2 Port - Instrument Cluster Issues

I’m having an issue with my 2007 Ford 6.0 where I can’t communicate with any module through the OBD2 port except for the airbag module. Also, my instrument cluster isn’t displaying mileage, RPM, transmission temp, or coolant temp (new cluster). I’ve replaced the PCM and checked the wiring but I’m still having issues. Any advice?

It sounds like a wiring issue, especially with the communication wiring from the PCM. Have you checked for any broken or damaged wires in the area where you found the previous wiring problem?

I’ve been checking for a few days but haven’t found anything obvious yet. I’ll go back to the area where I found the previous issue and check again.

You might want to test the communication wiring to each module. Pin 6 on the OBD2 port is a data communication wire that connects to the PCM, ABS, and instrument cluster. If you’re not getting any voltage on that pin, it’s a sign of a wiring issue.

@Katherine
I did check the voltage on pin 6 and noticed it has continuity but no voltage. Do you think it could be the wiring leading to the PCM?

Sounds like it might be worth checking the modules that communicate with the PCM, like the park assist module and the restraints module. Disconnecting them one at a time could help isolate the issue.

Thanks! I’ll check the park assist and restraints modules. Do you know where they’re located?

The park assist module is located behind the glove box, under the passenger side of the dash. The restraints module is at the bottom center of the dash, but you’ll need to remove a cover to access it.

Perfect, I’ll check those locations. Thanks for the help!

You might want to use a service like Alldata to get access to wiring diagrams and repair information. It can be really helpful for issues like this, though it does cost a small fee.

I’ll look into that. I’ve been struggling to find a good source for detailed wiring info.
