Will this trim work for my car?

Yeah, it should work fine.

Are you sure? My car has manual climate controls, no heated seats, and no disc slot.

Yep, I did this exact conversion a few years back, and it worked perfectly. Here’s the guide I followed: https://www.thisforum.com/r/fordfusion/s/lNVwirkbRL

@Peter
Just make sure the wiring harness you get is for manual controls. I made that mistake at first.

@Peter
Good to know! Before I start, do I need any extra parts? I’m also planning to install a USB-C hub for my iPhone 15. I’ve read that I’ll need to calibrate the head unit either at a dealership or when I buy it.

@Emile
You’ll need a GPS module, USB ports, a Sync 3 screen (mine came from a Ford Edge), a wire harness (double-check compatibility), and the trim. I also got a programming cable and paid someone online to code it for Forscan. Everything worked out great. If you don’t mind spending a little extra, I’d also recommend a wireless CarPlay adapter. I leave mine plugged in, and it connects automatically.

@Peter
I’ve got the screen, APIM, and USB port saved on eBay, and a Forscan OBD2 on Amazon. I still need to find a GPS module and might get new harnesses just in case. I don’t mind using a wired connection for CarPlay since I always charge my phone in the car anyway.

You can use that 2020 panel, but it doesn’t have buttons for seat heating. You can either turn the seat heaters on through the screen or buy a panel with those buttons. If you want dual-zone climate, you’ll need to replace the heater, modify the harness, and add a radiation sensor to the dash.

@Lyonnel
I don’t have heated seats or a disc slot. I just found this picture online since I couldn’t get a good shot of my unit.

Oh, I see! Late Fusions don’t have CD slots anyway. I thought all 2019+ Fusion S models came with Sync 3. My friend’s 2019 Fusion S has better features than my 2017 SE, even though mine has AWD and the appearance package.

@Lyonnel
Yeah, mine has Sync 3, and I recently updated it. I just want a new head unit for CarPlay. I love the car and got a great deal, but I can’t believe they still made cars with non-touchscreen units and manual seats in 2020. At least it has radar and blind spot monitoring, which I’ve never had before. The remote start has been a lifesaver this winter.

@Emile
Manual seats, wheel caps, and black skirts… classic Ford. I installed a Euro modem, so now I have FordPass, but honestly, I hardly use it. I did get a wireless adapter for my wife’s iPhone 15 Pro Max because I couldn’t find a cable that worked with it. Now I just need to teach her how to use maps when driving to new places.

@Lyonnel
Yeah, it’s not all bad though.

@Emile
It’s all about which trim came with the car…
