What's this hanging down under my 2024 F250 King Ranch?

My truck has 5k miles, and I noticed something hanging down on both sides. I tried searching online but couldn’t find anything helpful. Anyone have an idea?

That’s a ride height sensor. The rod should be attached under that white sticker with the ‘A’ and QR code.

Sounds about right. What does it actually do? I haven’t seen any codes or issues on the dash.

You might be right. It helps keep the headlights aligned based on your load.

Obligatory ‘fuckyourheadlights’ joke.

It also helps with the bed scale feature.

Don’t you have a dial for that? My Tundra has one, and it’s great when we pull into campgrounds at night.

Is your truck leveled or lifted? If so, they may have popped off during the install and didn’t reconnect. You might need an adapter for leveling kits to stop this from happening.

There’s probably no codes because it’s reading fully extended. They should calibrate it better so it throws a code if it disconnects. It might not control anything major since they didn’t design it that way.

Is this happening in the back where the headlights point up into oncoming traffic?

Just like every other Ford Super Duty.

Cars don’t do that, but trucks sure do!

You won’t get any codes because the sensor is still connected electrically, so the computer thinks it’s in place.

It also adjusts the brake proportioning valve to stop the rear brakes from locking up without a load in the bed.

EBS can calculate without a height sensor, but good point.

Can it just be reattached, or is it broken?

Looks like the mount is broken. You’ll probably need a new sensor.

Agreed. Definitely snapped off the sensor.

That’s the auto-leveling headlight sensor. It should connect to the module above. I’d take it to the dealer; should be a quick fix under warranty.

It just snaps onto the sensor arm above it. There should be a ball on the sensor arm to clip the rod onto. No tools needed unless something is broken.
