I’m wondering what maintenance I should do to make my 2016 SE Hybrid last another 100,000 miles. It just hit 100K yesterday, and I’m considering replacing the spark plugs. If you had $1,000 to spend, what would you prioritize for maintenance?
I have a 2016 SE Hybrid too. I’m at 149K miles. I’ve been doing regular maintenance, like oil changes every 5K miles. I just listen to my independent shop’s recommendations when they suggest replacing something.

@Jude
As an auto tech, I’d recommend swapping the spark plugs, changing the transmission fluid, brake fluid if needed, and maybe a coolant flush. Also, check the suspension, especially the bushings.
@Jude
I’d do the trans fluid, spark plugs, coolant, and full synthetic oil change. Also, get the battery and charging system tested. Check the tire wear and grease the door hinges and strikes. If you have time, check the A/C refrigerant too. I did all of this on my 2012 hybrid at 100K miles, and I’m doing the same for my 2017 MKZ at 95K miles.
@JessicaRayson
I replaced the tires three months ago, and the battery is under 2 years old. The doors have squeaked for years. I’ve tried many things and even took it to two mechanics. One put brake grease on them, which helped for a short time. This is the only issue with the car.
@Jude
The noise is likely from the door checks, the rod between the upper and lower hinge. It’s common for them to make creaking noises. I used to sell these parts in the store.

I’ve suspected that for a while. How can I fix it?
@Jude
It’s easy to replace. The bolts on the ends allow you to remove it.
@Jude
I use white lithium grease for door checks. Spray it onto a paper towel and apply it to the check. I have a squeaky door, and the grease usually silences it for about 4-6 months. I could replace it, but it only takes a minute to apply the grease, so I just keep doing that.
@Amari
Thanks for the tip! I’m going to try this today.
@Jude
When my 2018 Hybrid hit 100K miles, I changed the spark plugs, brake fluid, and both coolants.
My 2019 Hybrid has 224K miles. All I’ve done is oil changes, replaced one starter battery, and tires. That’s it.

What engine do you have?

It’s a hybrid; they only have one engine.
@Ann
I have a 2019 Ford Fusion with a 1.5 EcoBoost. Do you know much about its reliability?

It has 224K miles, so I think that says a lot about its reliability.

I meant about my engine. I want to make sure it lasts.
@Rain
Just stay on top of your maintenance. I always use Motorcraft filters and synthetic oil. Don’t abuse it.
