What is the firing order for a Ford 5.4 engine?

This might seem silly, but I can’t find the cylinder numbering for my 2004 5.4 engine. I want to know where each cylinder is located by number. For example, is #1 on the driver’s side of the truck, closest to the front?

I’ve checked the OEM Workshop Manual and looked in the engine compartment, but I’m stuck.

Thanks!

If I remember correctly from class, for Ford engines, the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 on the left side and 5-6-7-8 on the right side when looking at the engine.

On the passenger side starting at the front 1 3 5 7 and on the drivers side starting at the front 2 4 6 8

The two answers are different. I’m trying to find out the cylinder numbers and their locations. My code reader says there’s a misfire in #4, but I don’t know which one that is on my 2005 5.4 F150 Lariat.

Thanks!

Passenger side, front of engine is #1, then 2,3,4. Driver side, front of engine is #5, then 6,7,8

I agree with what Roger said. I’ve attached a diagram as proof!
