Looks like an old school cruise control, you might just need a zip tie to hold it in place

Haha, maybe that’s the answer
Could it be rigid? Just a guess, but it might be a bump stop. If the pedal is made of plastic, they might’ve added it to prevent flexing at wide open throttle. Could be there to support the pedal once it’s fully pressed down.
@Kennedy
Someone said it’s a drop down switch, but I can’t quite figure out what it’s meant to do

If it is a kickdown switch, it would make the transmission downshift for faster acceleration. Most modern cars have it built into the pedal. If you’re driving a manual, though, it doesn’t have this feature.
@Daphne
It’s a manual, so what exactly is this then?

Maybe it’s just a filler plate for a kickdown switch. Since these cars are made affordably, they might use the same parts across models.
@Tate
Yeah, I think it’s just a bump stop. Modern cars with electronic throttles usually have the kickdown built into the pedal.

This doesn’t apply to OP, but I remember a 2008 BMW 528xi with a button on the floor. Pressing it would make it aggressively downshift.

I had a manual Golf R, and the accelerator still had a kickdown switch. It didn’t do anything, but it was cheaper for VW to use the same pedal in both automatics and manuals.

Usually, kickdown switches have a tactile click you feel when you press the pedal all the way down. But in modern cars, these switches are integrated into the accelerator sensor. So, this piece under the pedal is likely just a bump stop.
Is that a kickdown button?

I thought it was a stopper, but I’m not sure.

It’s a 2004 Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.4L.
I think it’s just to stop the floor mat from moving too much or a stopper for the pedal.
Sheesh, I see you rocking the Black Cats! Fuego

Got three pairs at the moment
It’s probably just a stopper so you don’t push the pedal too far.
That’s Charly, he’s a cool guy if you don’t bother him too much.
