Tire pressure sensor fault, how urgent is this?

Got a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid and just started getting this tire pressure sensor fault popping up. It was coming and going, but now it’s on every time I start the car. Tire looks fine, so I’m not sure how quickly this needs to be dealt with. Anyone else had this?

I’ve had that warning on my dash since ‘07 and still driving fine.

The sensor in your tire is probably on its last leg. You can replace it, but you can also just ignore it if it’s not bothering you too much. Other than that warning light, it’s not gonna mess with your car.

@Haris
Yeah, that’s kinda what I thought. Thanks for the heads up.

Just a heads up though… depending on where you live, that warning might cause issues with passing a safety or emissions test. Not always, but something to keep in mind when your car’s due for inspection. If you don’t have any tests to pass, then you’re all good.

@Haris
Luckily, I just did my registration this year and didn’t need any inspection for that.

The sensor is only about $20, and most local shops will pop it in for another $10-20. Or just wait until you’re getting new tires.

@Ocean
I know a small shop nearby that would probably do it cheap. Hard to find places that let you bring in your own parts these days.

Just means one of your tire sensors is bad. No rush to fix it as long as you’re cool with checking your tire pressure yourself.

Probably one or more sensors are dead. It’s not going to hurt anything except having that warning light. Just keep an eye on your tire pressure. I think it’s supposed to be 36 psi for a 2017 Fusion. Replacing them costs around $120 per sensor at my shop, including parts and labor.

Sounds like the sensor battery is toast. Any tire shop can swap it out. I’ve had this happen twice now.

I’d just get it fixed when it’s convenient, but if it doesn’t bother you, you could also just leave it alone.
