My stereo isn’t working on my 1997 Ford F250 5.4 Lariat. Can anyone help me locate the fuse? Is it in the engine fuse box or the cab fuse box? If the fuses are good, what should be my next step? I have the stock stereo.
The fuse for the stereo is typically in the cab fuse box, not the engine. You’ll want to check the fuse labeled ‘Radio’ or ‘Stereo.’ If that fuse is fine, check for power and ground at the stereo itself. If everything looks good, it might be time to replace the radio.
@Genevieve
Thanks! I’ll check the cab fuse box first. I’ll also check power and ground at the stereo if the fuse is fine.
If the fuses are all good, try checking the wiring behind the radio. Sometimes the wires can come loose or get corroded, especially if the stereo hasn’t been replaced in a while.

I’ll take a look at the wiring behind the radio as well. I didn’t think of that. Appreciate the tip!
You can also use a voltmeter to check if the power is reaching the stereo. If there’s no power even with a good fuse, it could be the wiring or the stereo itself that’s the issue.

Good idea! I’ll test for power with a voltmeter. I’ll let you know what I find.
It’s also worth checking the ignition switch if the stereo is powered off when the key is in the off position. Sometimes a faulty ignition switch can cut power to the stereo.

That’s an interesting point! I didn’t think about the ignition switch. I’ll make sure to check that too.
