60,000 miles, and no serious rust issues. I’m planning to get the underbody coated before I sell. Recently replaced the fuel pump and spark plugs, cleaned the battery, and just had the transmission rebuilt. The interior is in almost perfect condition with red leather seats, no rips. I’m thinking of holding onto it for a few years and aiming to sell it for $15k. Do you think that’s realistic?
I bought it for $7,500 and put another $3k into it. It’s never been driven in the winter and has been stored in a garage.
I agree! I bought an 88 Supercab, 5-speed, 2.3, about 27 years ago for $2,500, and it wasn’t even in as good shape as yours. That’s a great looking truck. Keep it!
Edit: I traded it for a 95 Explorer, now driving a 2000 Supercab Automatic.

Depends on if you need the cash. But it’s a beauty, I’d hold on to it if I were you.
I’m doing fine, don’t need to sell it. Just curious in case life throws me a curveball. Plus, maybe I just need some validation for buying it, haha. Was a little worried I made the wrong choice.

Nah man, you got yourself a real gem. Anyone who loves older trucks would be drooling over this one. It’s a keeper for sure.

Don’t sell it. One like yours sold near me for $3k in similar condition. It’ll only go up in value as the newer models wear out.
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. If I keep it for 10 more years and keep it in good shape, it’ll be 50 years old and even more valuable. Either way, it’s a win-win – a cool summer ride or a good investment.
No need to undercoat it before selling. Lots of people out there looking for Rangers, but watch out for the lowballers who just want to flip it for a profit or drive it without transferring the title.
@keeganmustry
I’ve got a 1988 Ranger too! Just swapped the 2.0L for a 302. Drove it around the block last weekend, hoping to drive it to work next week.
