Hey, I need to replace the shocks on my Ranger. I’ve only had the truck for a few months, but I hit some railroad tracks going about 45 mph, and the whole truck lurched sideways. I’m not looking for high-performance shocks, but I also don’t want anything super cheap. I can install them myself, and I’m wondering if $200 is a good budget for front and rear shocks? Also, for reference, I think I could fit about 17 bicycles in the truck… maybe even 20. Thoughts?
I think you could fit 25 bikes in there, easy.
I usually go with Duralast shocks from AutoZone. They have a lifetime warranty, and I’ve gotten them replaced for free a few times within the first three years.

Same here, I’ve got these shocks, and I like them too.
Bilsteins are the way to go.

Yep, Bilsteins perform really well. Anything else might be hit or miss, but still probably an upgrade over what you’ve got now.
Or you could just keep dragging that ass!
Bilsteins are great, but I went with KYB Gas-a-Just shocks to save a bit of money. I’ve been hauling about 400 lbs of camping gear and a rooftop tent all summer, and they’ve held up great. If you’re doing the work yourself, RockAuto is the place to get parts.
Check out Napa; they’ve got a few different options that might fit your $200 budget.
Wait, are these bikes part of a business, or do they belong to friends and family?

Why are you so curious about this guy’s bikes? You trying to rob him or something?
@Spartan
Seems like OP might be the one in the bike business, lol.

“No officer, I didn’t steal them! I just found them chained up everywhere!”

Exactly what I’m thinking! Lmao

I worked in the bike industry for 20 years, but now I just fix them up for fun. Sold enough bikes this year to buy this truck and pay for a new driveway.
I went with KYB Gas-a-Just shocks front and back from RockAuto, and I’m still happy five years later. They’re a bit beefier than the KYB Excel G shocks, which are more like the OEM ones.
I installed them myself and also added Hellwig helper springs. I only haul two mountain bikes in my Ranger, but they should handle 20 bikes no problem!
You need more bikes… but also less bikes.
While you’re at it, check your shackles. I put on Monroe Gas-Matic shocks, but honestly, I don’t care what’s on there as long as they work.
