Need advice on locking car without a fob

Hey, I just bought a 2013 Fusion SE. It was sold as-is, and everything’s been great, but the key I got isn’t the factory fob. It’s just a basic key with no remote. I know it would cost around $250 to get a new key fob cut and programmed, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to lock the car properly in the meantime?

Every time I lock it using the door button and then unlock it with the keyhole, the car starts beeping at me to insert the key into the ignition or else the alarm will go off. Is there any way I can lock the doors without setting off the alarm system?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

If your car has the combination lock, try holding the 7-8 and 9-0 buttons to lock the vehicle without the key.

Does your car have the door code numbers? If it does, you can press the bottom two numbers together to lock the car.

By the way, don’t go to the dealer for a key fob. Try Car Keys Express instead: https://store.carkeysexpress.com/

Thanks for the advice! It works for a bit, but then the alarm comes back on after a minute. I guess I’ll go ahead and try getting a new fob. For anyone else having this issue, I think that’s the only solution.

How does your car start without the correct fob? I thought all 2013 models were push to start? My 2013 Titanium is.

My 2014 and 2017 Fusions aren’t push to start either.

I didn’t know 2013s had push to start. That’s news to me.

@Emmett
I think it’s just the Titanium models that have it.

That makes sense. I haven’t seen any 2015 or older models with it.
