i just got a 2020 escape SE with the 1.5 engine and 94k miles for 8 grand. it had really bad torque shudder so i took it to ford, and luckily it’s still under the 100k mile warranty. they’re replacing the torque converter and checking everything else that might need fixing. they’re also doing the recalls while it’s in.
i’m hoping once it’s all sorted, it’ll last a long time. i’ll keep up with regular maintenance. if anyone has advice or wants to share something, i’m listening.
i’ve already read through a bunch of posts here to see what people have said about these cars. i’m in it now, so i want to be ready for anything.
that’s a crazy good deal
congrats! whether you love it or not, you already got a win. probably could flip it at a dealer and still come out ahead, which never happens.

thank you!! that’s really nice to hear.
the newer 1.5 engines are way better than the old ones that had the engine block issue. the transmission can be a bit sketchy but since you’re getting a new torque converter, you should be good. just change the trans fluid every 40k miles or so. do oil changes every 5k with full synthetic. keep an eye on the turbo too, but unless it had long oil change gaps, you’re probably good until around 150k miles.
